The Fund for Support of Small Business and International networks (FUSSBI) is
non-commercial, non-governmental organization, which was founded in 1998. It
was established to carry out support for society-especially for refugees from
Abkhazeti. Our aim is to help people improve their economic conditions and situation.
The fund is helping refugees to guarantee their jobs, to arrange their future
life, to solve their vital problems by themselves, to search and create new bases,
to gain high qualifications, and to raise their knowledge and intellectual level.
FUSSBI employs 5 collaborators and 4 volunteers who have good experience in marketing
and business training. The organization in Imereti region has counted more than
1400 experienced specialists among them 352 are having high qualifications. FUSSBI
supported creation of 8 Credit - Unions consisting of 240 members. In 1998-1999
the stationary things (Bags, pens, pencils and other things) for 165 orphans
were distributed by the foundation.
Since its foundation, FUSSBI has prepared more than 100 Business Plans and proposals,
more than 500 persons have attended training courses and received business information
and consultancy from FUSSBI.
- In June 2000, FUSSBI carried out the project: “ Widening of area of activities
and improving service for organizations and individuals through the strengthening
the technical means of the fund”. (350 individuals and 38 private organizations
received business information and consultancy. 57 individuals have attend training)
- In September 2000 and January 2001 FUSSBI by the support of IRC and UNHCR implemented
“Employing and involving IDP into small business” project (287 IDP received business
training and consultancy and were involved into small business)
- Since April 2000, FUSSBI was subcontracted by CARE Caucasus, for the ”Community
activity, shelter and social infrastructure improvement” project to provide training
for communities of Imereti region
- In October 2000, FUSSBI has conducted 5 training seminars and business consultations
for receivers of loans from DRC (Danish Refugee Council) income generating
- In May 1999, “Abkhazintercont” by the support of the fund “know-how” realised
project “IDP’s Professional Preparatory and Employment”. (35 specialists and
14 accountants gained the qualification, also the business fields and computer
skills; the majority of them were employed)
