Borjomi Business Consulting Center

"Borjomi Business Consulting Center" was established in town Borjomi and has been operational since July 26, 2004.

The goal of "Borjomi Business Consulting Center" (BBCC) the center is to facilitate to small and medium business development in Borjomi district. To ensure accomplishment of the above goal, the organization sees its objectives in the following:

- Active cooperation with local business sector, local self-governance bodies and state structures;
- Tight collaboration with non-governmental organizations, provision of support and assistance to local and international organizations in implementation of aid and development projects in Borjomi district;
- Ensure provision of comprehensive information related to local business for local population as well as to Georgian and international organizations;
- Implement projects that will have favorable impact on improvement of social and economical conditions of local population.

Currently, "Borjomi Business Consulting Center" provides the following scope of services:

- Business Plan preparation;
- Provision of various types of business consultations in the fields of small, medium enterprise development and agri-business;
- Marketing researches;
- Business training for the established and start-up entrepreneurs;
- Provision of informational service on legislative and other business related issues.

Implemented Projects

Apart from carrying out its general activity as a business consulting and information service provider company to local SMEs and start-up entrepreneurs, BBCC has so far implemented the following specific project:

  • One of the principal purposes of establishment of BBCC and its activities has been participation in implementation the business consulting component of the UNDP project "Integrated Program for Employment of the Unemployed, Entrepreneurs' Support and Small and Medium Enterprise Development" The tasks of BBCC within the program provided for training and preparation of the defined number of the unemployed in business planning as well as their consultation in the entrepreneurial and taxation legislation, management and accounting;
  • BBCC, as member of the Association of Business Consulting Organizations of Georgia ABCO-Georgia, participated in implementation of the training and consulting component of the "State Program for Temporary and Permanent Employment of the Unemployed" for the year 2004. Within the scope of the program, the organization conducted 10 day business training program and individual consultations for selected number of local unemployed persons with purpose of their subsequent elaboration of business plans for possible financing by the project partner bank;
  • In 2003, BBCC formed the agreement with UNDP mission in Georgia on the bases of which the organization started active partnership and cooperation with local self-governance bodies and local SME sector;
  • At the end of 2004, within the framework of the IFC (International Finance Corporation) funded project and with purpose of assessment of the market for Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) producer and consumer companies in Georgia, BBCC conducted the market study to identify and characterize locally operating EE and RE companies and evaluate the target market;
  • In February 2005, BBCC formed the agreement on provision of professional business consulting services with UNDP mission in Georgia, within the scope of a UNDP's Business Incubator program. The appropriate call for applications was announced to which responded 11 local micro and small enterprises. Among those, 7 "incubated" enterprises were selected for the Business Incubator, on the basis of certain criteria. The project provided for provision of individual business consultations for the above "incubated" enterprises 2 times per week during the 12 months period as well as to 2 "non-incubated" local enterprises once a week during a 10 month period. Apart from providing the consulting services, BBCC has been collaborating with banks and micro-finance organizations on the issue of financing the business projects of local small companies under the Business Incubator program. As result, number of such business projects received financing with the loan interest subsidized by UNDP.
